When to use it
- Make a karaoke or practice track from a song you own
- Pull out a rough vocal guide to learn a melody
- Hear the drums or bass line more clearly while transcribing
- Prepare an instrumental bed for a cover video (check the rights first)
How to use
- Drop a song file (up to 8 minutes is processed).
- Wait while it splits the audio. A 4-minute song usually takes about 2 minutes.
- Play the original and each stem, and switch between them to compare.
- Change the strength and run it again if too much vocal remains, then download a stem as WAV/MP3 or all stems as one ZIP.
Supported formats and limits
- Input: MP3, WAV, M4A, OGG, FLAC and the audio of most video files
- Output: WAV or MP3 for each stem, or all stems as a ZIP of WAV files
- Stereo songs work best; mono files can only be split into drums and bass
Tips for better results
- Songs with the lead vocal in the center and instruments spread left and right give the cleanest result.
- Heavy reverb on the vocal, or instruments panned to the center, leave more vocal behind. That is a limit of this method, and paid AI separators can do better on such songs.
- For chord detection, run Chord Finder on the instrumental stem.
FAQ
Is my song uploaded anywhere?
No. The separation runs in your browser and the file never leaves your device.
Why is some vocal still audible?
This tool uses our own signal processing instead of an AI model, because the popular separation models are not licensed for commercial use. It removes sound that sits in the center of a stereo mix, so reverb and centered instruments can remain.
Can I use the stems publicly?
Only if you have the rights to the original song. Removing the vocal does not change the copyright of the music.
How long can the song be?
The first 8 minutes are processed. Longer files are cut at 8 minutes.
