Maybe you want a funny voice for a video, or you need to hide who's speaking in a tip or interview recording. You can change a voice right in your browser, with no software or audio gear.

When it's useful

How to do it

  1. Open the Voice Changer.
  2. Upload a file, or press Record with mic.
  3. Click an effect (higher, deeper, child, gruff, robot, echo, cave, radio) to hear it right away.
  4. Save as WAV or MP3 when you like it.

What each effect does

EffectWhat it doesGood for
Higher / DeeperShifts pitch by ±5 semitones, keeps the way you talkCharacter dubbing, fun
Child / GruffShifts pitch further, up to ±8 semitonesExaggerated characters
RobotModulates the signal periodically (ring modulation)Disguising who's speaking
Echo / CaveAdds reverb and reflectionsAtmospheric narration, sound effects
RadioNarrows the frequency band and adds distortionOld radio or walkie-talkie feel

To disguise a voice, effects that change the tone a lot (robot, radio) work better than a simple pitch shift. Keep in mind that no effect makes a voice completely unrecognizable.

What not to do

This tool is for fun and privacy. Don't use it to impersonate or deceive anyone. It doesn't change your voice during live calls; it only works on existing files or new recordings.

Common problems

Need captions or a transcript?

Get text with Audio to Text, or captions for video with the Subtitle Generator. Big pitch shifts can lower speech recognition accuracy, so transcribe the original first, then change the voice.

Frequently asked questions

Can I change my voice during a live call?

No. Effects are applied to files and recordings, not live calls.

Can it make me sound like a completely different person?

Robot and radio change the tone a lot, but no effect makes a voice completely unrecognizable. It’s best for fun and basic disguise.

Can I both record and upload a file?

Yes, but one source is used at a time. A new mic recording replaces the current one.

Is my audio uploaded to a server?

No. All processing happens in your browser.

Which file formats can I upload?

mp3, wav, m4a and ogg, or record directly with your mic.
