- This is a self-check for reference only, not a medical diagnosis. It cannot replace a clinical hearing test such as pure-tone audiometry.
- If you are worried about your hearing, see an ENT doctor or an audiologist.
- Start at a low volume. Never turn high tones up loud to try to hear them.
How to use
- Put on headphones and sit in a quiet room.
- Set a comfortable, low starting volume, then press Start test.
- Press I hear it if you can hear the tone, or Can’t hear it if you can’t.
- See the highest frequency you heard. Use Start over to try again.
Why results vary
- Many speakers and phone speakers cannot play 15–20 kHz at all.
- Background noise, device volume and ear condition all change the result.
- High-frequency hearing generally declines with age, but individual differences are large.
FAQ
Is this a medical hearing test?
No. It is a self-check for reference only and cannot replace a clinical hearing test. See an ENT doctor or audiologist if you are concerned.
Why can’t I hear the highest tones?
Your speakers or headphones may not reproduce them, background noise may mask them, and high-frequency hearing naturally declines with age.
Can this tell my age?
No. Individual differences are large, so the result cannot tell your age or hearing health.
Is it safe?
Keep the volume low. High tones can be unpleasant even when they seem quiet, so never turn them up loud.
Is any audio recorded?
No. The tool only plays tones; it does not use your microphone.
